If you're fulfilling custom-song orders through SongHQ, there are two ways to create the song: use your own Suno account manually (BYO), or use SongHQ built-in generation. The right choice depends on how much control you want and whether you prefer a separate per-success cost.
How BYO works
BYO is deliberately manual. Copy the complete prompt from your SongHQ order, open Suno, sign in there, generate and download the result, then upload the MP3, WAV, or M4A file to SongHQ. SongHQ never receives your Suno login or provider credentials.
BYO uploads use no SongHQ credits and create no platform-song usage. Your costs and rights on Suno remain governed by your own Suno account and plan.
How platform generation works
Built-in generation lets SongHQ submit and reconcile the task for you. Songs consume zero SongHQ credits; only a successful result is metered, at $1.00 on Starter, $0.80 on Pro, or $0.60 on Studio. Failed tasks, timeouts, and retries of the same failed version do not create usage. Cover art still costs one SongHQ credit.
Which one fits your situation
Choose BYO if: you already use Suno, want direct control over generation, or prefer to keep song-generation usage entirely on your own account.
Choose built-in generation if: you want the generation task to stay inside the SongHQ order workflow and accept the separate successful-song rate.
You can switch later
Nothing about this choice is permanent. Switch modes from the Song Generation settings page. Existing completed versions remain attached to their orders, while each new platform submission snapshots the plan rate that applied when it was started.
